How to Ask for Time Off

This page will explain how to ask for a time off from your manager.

Background

EBS has an events system in which the managers can set public events for all employees and every user can add his own events. The event mechanism can be used to set a holiday, sick leave, or just a reminder for birthdays. Each event needs to be approved in order to be seen in the roster. While reminders are always approved, some events need the approval of a manager.

 

Getting to the Event Screen

In order to get to the events screen, press on the 'Employee Management' tab and select the 'Events' link

Creating a New Event

Press on the 'Add'  add  Button

 

Step 1: Write the event Name

Step 2: Specify the event start date

Step 3: Specify the event end date

Step 4: Choose an activity from the 'Activity' drop down menu

Step 5: If you need full days off, check the 'Full Day' checkbox, If not, specify the start time and the end time for the event.

Step 6: Write your comment (Optional)

Step 7: Choose recurrence (Optional)

Step 8: Press 'Save'

Sending an Event for Approval

To send the event for approval, single click on the event (highlight it), and press on the "Request Aproval" button (request_approval).

A new message window will pop up, and allow you to choose an approving manager and add you own message.

 

The event will be available as an attachment to this message (see messaging system)

 

Once, you send the request, your manager will have the option to approve or decline this request. Either way, you will recieve his response, and see the event as either approved or declined.
